Blogger Problems Need Help
Help! I'm wondering if any one else is having difficulty getting into their blog. I have searched and searched for answers on why I'm experiencing so many difficulties accessing my blog. Here is my problem: Every time I open my blog I get a message "Internet Explorer cannot open" - then when I check the error message it tells me there is a DNS error (domain name). I also experience this problem when opening a few other blog sites (but not all). Does any one have a suggestion or know how to correct my problem. My Internet provider has no idea, nor does Hewlett Packard - surely someone knows how to fix this..........??????????? Once in a blue moon I can get into my site -

Are you on Windows Vista or XP? You may need to reset your connection - this can be done in Vista by going to Control Panel and selecting Network, Network and Internet, View Network Status and Tasks.
ReplyDeleteFor XP, try this: http://www.troublefixers.com/fix-can-not-display-web-page-trouble-in-4-easy-steps/
I have had the same problem. I can get on my blog it is just a few others I have trouble with. My problem started right after I updated my internet explorer. Sometimes if I keep trying it will let me on. I think I'll try Thomas fix.Good luck
ReplyDeleteProbably not what you want to hear, but try using a different web browser, something other than internet explorer. I've had trouble in the past accessing mine and other blogs with i.e. but no problems at all since I switched to Firefox...
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of variuos problems with Blogger. Then, I read that Internet Explorer has a lot of "problems" with Blogger. I switched to Mozilla Firefox for my browser, and I have no problems at all. One of the problems I had with Blogger and Internet Explorer was accessing other Blogger sites and sometimes mine. In reading on Blogger's help site, I found that the problem was the Friend Connect Widget. If you remove that widget from your layout, then you can access your blog. However, if other people still have their widget, you can't access their blogger blog if you are using Internet Explorer. BUT if you switch to Firefox, you can access their Blogger blogs. Here's the problem, though: a lot of people still use internet explorer as their broswer, which means that those people can't access your blog if your Friend Connect Widget is still on your layout, even though you have changed to Firefox. So, either way, your widget has to go. However, removing it does not cause your followers to go away, just their pics, and you can still "follow" other people on their site [after you switch to Firefox, that is].
ReplyDeleteMy personal opinion: I LOVE Firefox. So much faster and a lot of "add-ons" and conveniences for both researching and social networking.
Hope This Helps!

had the same problem a few weeks ago.. I am running XP and went through the fix Thomas mentions but it didn't fix it. found out from other blogger geeks out there that it was related to a new widget I had added for traffic tracking. Once I removed it, my blog came up fine although I had the problem on some other blogs for a while. I also had installed IE8, but then removed it when the problem started. After searching for the error in Google, I came across scores of people who had the same problem and it had just begun when mine did. I'd try removing any widgets that you've recently added to your blog and then once you can get to it without the error coming up, add your widgets back one-by-one to see which one was causing it.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your great suggestions - I am working my way through all of them until the problem is solved. I tried Thomas' suggestion too and it did not fix mine either-so then I deleted my DNS cache as was suggested on the trouble fixer's site - still no good. I also run XP and updated to IE8 - but was having the problem before the update. I have removed my location counter and my playlist so I'll if that works first. I hate to remove my "followers" as I love see all the faces of other researchers. Thanks everyone - any other ideas let me know.........
ReplyDeleteI have had the same problem. It began a few weeks ago, long after I added any widgets, etc. I downloaded google chrome, and had no trouble opening blogs. Now my problem is that some of the blogs, once opened, loop...they open and open and open. It is driving me crazy!
ReplyDeleteI've had that too - and it's harder than heck to close all those tabs down!! It's driving me crazy too!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI too have had all the above problems, gonna add firefox and do what Thomas suggests. It's extremly frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI switched to Firefox and have been fine. I can't say for sure though because I did replace my wireless router around the same time.
